Breathtaking overlook of the meadowlands between the Canadian River and the Sugarite fomerly compromising the Willow Springs forage station. The Raton Mesa Group and the Mountain Route of the SFT snakes between the 7,761' high Eagle Tail Peak and the 7,533' high Red River Peak (a SFT landmark).

The spring, the site of a Santa Fe Trail campsite and forage station, was the landmark around which the city of Raton (once known as Willow Springs) developed.
