Dorsey Mansion
Colfax County New Mexico
A unique home consisting of a log cabin and two-story Gothic Revival stone mansion. Situated on the rolling grasslands of northeastern New Mexico, the Dorsey Mansion, built half of logs and half of dressed native stone, trimmed with gargoyles and high relief structures, remains a monument to the dreams, ambitions, calamity and eventual poverty of its former owner, Stephen W. Dorsey.
Built between 1878 and 1886 by former US Senator-turned-cattle baron Stephen W. Dorsey of Arkansas. A 125'-wide portion of the SFT crosses County Road 62 6.5 mi. N of US Highway 56. Point of Rocks, a National Park Service Certified SFT Site, is just 5 mi. E of the mansion.
