Hot Springs
San Miguel County New Mexico
Four springs await in the grassy, sloping field above the Gallinas River. They're free; open daily, 6 AM to 11 PM, year-round. Effluent temperatures are 115 degrees F in July, 85 degrees F in January. Parking is along shoulder of NM 65.
These curative thermal springs, which attracted Indians, settlers, soldiers and outlaws over the centuries, were responsible for the late 19th century construction of the Hot Springs Hotel and Queen Anne-style Montezuma Hotel, both located on the adjacent United World College of the American West campus.
