Festivities on the Santa Fe Trail
Find out what events occur on the trail by month
The Santa Fe Trail New Mexico National Scenic Byway features a wonderful variety of festivities. Take a tour of the many sites on the trail which feature such fun activities as a 4th of July Balloon Rally in Raton (pictured at left), the Mountain Man Rendezvous at the Palace of the Governors in Santa Fe, Bean Day in Wagon Mound, and the Heritage Fair in Clayton.
Take part in the various ice-fishing derbies, Volksmarch, Trail Days, archery tournaments and other fun events.
The following sites offer only a few of the exciting festivities on the Santa Fe Trail in New Mexico. Check with the local chambers of commerce for more information at each location.

RUN FOR THE WALL
Every year in an incredible number of motocyclists cross the ruts of the Santa Fe Trail on their drive through Cimarron, New Mexico on their way to Raton, New Mexico.

The wild west comes alive every year at the Maverick Grounds in Cimarron, New Mexico.

MISSOULA CHILDREN'S THEATER
Performed in the Shuler Theater every June with professional actors and local children

RATON CAR SHOW
Stroll through Ripley Park in Raton, New Mexico and transport yourself back to days gone by. Muscle cars, classic cars, and vintage antique cars are on show.

SANTA FE TRAIL RENDEZVOUS
300 reenactors participate in a living-history rendezvous of pre-1840's clad mountain men with a black-powder shoot, hatchet throw, and teepee village.

The Raton Arts & Humanities Council, Inc. presents the International Art Show during the second week in September. The juried show features over one hundred paintings and sculptures by local and regional artists.
